Karl Osterhout, Esq.
Founding Partner, Osterhout Berger Disability Law

Karl has almost exclusively been representing Social Security disability claimants since he graduated from law school (and worked up numerous cases and personally handled many hearings even before graduation). After leaving his position as a partner in a prominent downtown Pittsburgh law firm in 2000, he opened his own firm, continuing to personally concentrate on SSD claims ever since. For the last nine years he has grown the nationwide federal court appeals department from just himself with part-time paralegal help into its current configuration of six attorneys and five paralegals who do nothing but work on Federal appeals of unfavorable ALJ decisions. He is very active in doing presentations on topics relevant to Social Security disability, has mentored at least a dozen new Social Security representatives, and is very active with the National Association of Disability Representatives (NADR), having been awarded both their Member of the Year and Al Gonzales Outstanding Service awards, in 2017 and 2019, respectively. He has also been a co-writer of two amicus briefs to the Supreme Court on issues affecting Social Security disability claimants as part of his service through NADR.
