Laura Duncan

Laura C. Duncan, MHA, MSHI, is the Senior Administrator for the Department of Medicine within UPMC. She leads the Department of Medicine’s efforts to enhance access to care through telemedicine, clinical operations, and analytics across ten divisions within the department. Upon joining UPMC, she developed the centralized behavioral health admissions and outpatient scheduling program called PsychCare+, expanding the usage of inpatient bed capacity from psychiatric and addiction medicine service lines. She became the Director of Behavioral Health after earning her second master’s in healthcare informatics, using her skills to develop the formal inpatient behavioral health service line operational structure, driving admissions, lowered turnover, and improved employee satisfaction metrics across 14 sites of care.  Her interests lie within implementing data analytics to improve the patient and employee experience. 

Originally from New Jersey, she has served mid-sized nonprofits before joining UPMC, including two skilled nursing facilities and a retirement community in Pittsburgh by substantially improving marketing share and financial metrics. She lives with her greyhound, Mortimer, in downtown Pittsburgh’s Cultural District.
