Sansea L. Jacobson, M.D
Director, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship & Triple Board Program at WPIC/UPMC
Dr. Jacobson received her undergraduate degrees from Dartmouth College and Oxford University and medical training at the University of Pittsburgh. She is currently an associate professor and serves as program director for child and adolescent psychiatry training at UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital. Since 2007, Dr. Jacobson has devoted her clinical career to the prevention of youth suicide through the Services for Teens at Risk (STAR) Center. She also has an academic focus in physician wellness and is co-chair of the UPMC Graduate Medical Education WELL (Wellness, Environment, Learning, and Living) Committee, where she oversees initiatives to support the well-being of nearly 1800 resident and fellow physicians across the UPMC health care system. Nationally, Dr. Jacobson is the co-chair of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP) Training and Education Committee and on the AACAP Presidential Initiative Taskforce. In these roles, Dr. Jacobson has earned herself a reputation for creating and implementing innovative educational initiatives such as the 13 Reasons Why Toolkit (www.13reasonswhytoolkit.org) designed to support vulnerable youth exposed to sensitive content in media. Dr. Jacobson is the author or co-author of numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, as well as a recipient of the WPH Exemplary Faculty Teaching Service Award, Golden Apple Teaching Award, Samuel Gershon Teaching Award, Arnold P. Gold Foundation Teaching Award, Medical Humanism Award, University of Pittsburgh Excellence in Clinical Psychiatry Award, and a National Institutes of Health Research Training Award.
